The major problem that Lavi had encountered was that Allen had only vaguely explained where he was. Still, he'd hurried out as quickly as he could. He didn't know if he other boy was all right. Hurt. Worse. Anything. And that uncertainty was more than a little unsettling. It did make his stride that much faster as he moved through the strange city. The dilapidated buildings were a blur in his vision as he moved quickly towards the area that Allen had been in -- at least where he hoped Allen had been ( ... )

Allen had long since given up standing around in the hole, and had since found himself a comfortable enough seat on the ground, his head tipped back so that its crown rested against the cool of the rock wall behind him. His eyes were closed, as he fought back the beginnings of a dull headache just behind his eyes. When the ache had started, he realized he should have tried sitting still for a little longer than he had, but hindsight was 20/20. The young exorcist's legs were outstretched in front of him, his feet turned inward slightly so that the toes of his boots touched each other. His whole body was trying to mimic the pain he felt in his head, and it honestly took all of his concentration to unwind himself and prevent the painful aching ( ... )

It was odd how relief washed over him at hearing the distant, echoing voice of his friend. He'd heard the expression before, of course, but it literally felt like a cascade of warm water had found its way over the lot of his misgivings and worries and swept them away. If Allen was well enough to answer him that meant the more dire of scenarios that his imagination had played with weren't true ( ... )

The flat, line faced expression that overtook Allen's features was sadly lost on the boy it was aimed at, if only because Lavi could not see it. Allen could see the outline of his friend up above, his arms folding over his chest in an almost protective sort of manner. Of course the laughter just made the boy's shoulders slump and his lips turn into a slight scowl. It was nice that Lavi thought this situation was funny. Allen however, did not. Gray eyes shot up to the hole in the ceiling again, as he heard the sounds of muffled movement and shuffling. Lavi was going to come down? Allen took a step or two back from the hole, to make sure he gave Lavi plenty of room ( ... )

For a long moment, Lavi didn't move. Not because he couldn't, but because the ache that throbbed quite insistently in his body let him know that it would flare up dramatically should he try it. He did turn his head to face Allen though. "Yeah, unfortunately... I guess I--" his words cut off suddenly when his was suddenly being bandaged. Oh, yeah that. One corner of his lips tugged upward just slightly, the expression that threatened and then overtook his face a softer sort of smile than the grins he so often wore ( ... )
