Once he had been let in out of the cold, Gavin had let out a heavy sigh. The cold air had always burned when he had to be physically active, and rolling a wheelchair around in the snow and ice was no easy feat.
"I have to admit, I didn't expect it to be this big," he said with a tired, short laugh. "Man, this reminds me of living in the dorms back in college. Does everyone in this place live here?"
Tiki, the brown tabby, pulled herself up and out from under the blanket on Gavin's lap. With a long, slow stretch, the cat let out a big yawn. After a few minutes, she sat on Gavin's lap and began cleaning herself, watching Abel with a suspicious gaze from the corners of her bright green eyes.
"No," he said with a chuckle. "Despite its size, it wouldn't hold everyone in this city."
He headed for the kitchen, letting Gavin do as he pleased. While he was in there, he'd be brewing tea, making hot chocolate, and checking the drawers and refrigerator and freezer to check out what they had left. They would probably need to head out and work to get past those locked up stores for food. They had enough to last the household another few days, certainly.
He hesitated at first, but went to follow after Abel. Taking off the cloak Abel had placed around his shoulders, he held it out for him to take as he readjusted the blanket around his shoulders to loosen it now that he was indoors.
"I promise I'll repay you somehow. I can work around the house to earn my keep..." He smiled a small, shy smile, hopeful that he'd be able to give something back.

Carlisle had been going over a few things in his room. He could hear Abel's message from upstairs, the echo of it coming over his watch. Carlisle pocketed the watch and marked each page in the books he had open before walking down the stairs, mindful of his pace and joining Abel in the living room.
"Father Nightroad." He greeted with a small smile.
"Quite warm, thank you." Carlisle plucked at the thick blue sweater he was sporting and took a seat. "Keeping the fire going shouldn't be too difficult. I can get enough firewood for the house when the snow next calms."
More than enough firewood, really. Carlisle could put enough aside somewhere that they'd have enough to last all winter, without making it seem suspicious.
He'd seen the message about a house meeting, but honestly, he didn't particularly want to go. Meeting people one by one in this house was okay, even if it was still something he preferred avoiding, but everyone in one room? That was kind of out of the question at this point in time. Of course, it didn't really seem like something he'd be allowed to skip out on, but... Maybe he could if he just left the house. No one would come looking for him in this weather anyway.
So when he heard Abel's voice call out to him, he had one leg out the small window in the room so he could climb down the side of the house and disappear for a while.
He did halt though, almost holding his breath. Hopefully he wouldn't come up there to check if he was actually in there... Or feel the cold draft coming in from the open window... Hopefully he would just go back downstairs when he didn't answer.
Well, apparently hoping didn't work. Not like he really expected it to, considering how his wishes seemed to have a tendency to elude him no matter what he did. Sighing softly, he didn't come back inside or close the window, instead remaining where he was.
"I'm going out." He said, looking at him for a moment, before looking away, swinging his other leg over and out the window so he could just slip down now. He had to remind himself though, that he hadn't listened to people all that well before, and that he didn't need to start now. Even if Abel was a priest and all.

He was getting worried. He opened the door when he knocked again and didn't get and answer, and looked around the-
"What on Earth- get back in here, close the window!"
He would flail if he didn't think he'd fall off the latter. Gah, but he didn't want the boy to freeze! He came the rest of the way up into the room.
