Third Surprise thread, because Yoite didn't show up. Abel talks to the twig- er kid. 13_sugars December 18 2011, 21:37:58 UTC
"Yoite?" He went upstairs before the meeting really began, and knocked on the attic's 'door'.

"Please tell me you're in there..."

He'd seen the message about a house meeting, but honestly, he didn't particularly want to go. Meeting people one by one in this house was okay, even if it was still something he preferred avoiding, but everyone in one room? That was kind of out of the question at this point in time. Of course, it didn't really seem like something he'd be allowed to skip out on, but... Maybe he could if he just left the house. No one would come looking for him in this weather anyway.

So when he heard Abel's voice call out to him, he had one leg out the small window in the room so he could climb down the side of the house and disappear for a while.

He did halt though, almost holding his breath. Hopefully he wouldn't come up there to check if he was actually in there... Or feel the cold draft coming in from the open window... Hopefully he would just go back downstairs when he didn't answer.

"Yoite...?"

He was getting worried. He opened the door when he knocked again and didn't get and answer, and looked around the-

"What on Earth- get back in here, close the window!"

He would flail if he didn't think he'd fall off the latter. Gah, but he didn't want the boy to freeze! He came the rest of the way up into the room.

Well, apparently hoping didn't work. Not like he really expected it to, considering how his wishes seemed to have a tendency to elude him no matter what he did. Sighing softly, he didn't come back inside or close the window, instead remaining where he was.

"I'm going out." He said, looking at him for a moment, before looking away, swinging his other leg over and out the window so he could just slip down now. He had to remind himself though, that he hadn't listened to people all that well before, and that he didn't need to start now. Even if Abel was a priest and all.

"... I'll be back later."

"No, please... The blizzard has already begun to start up again."

He paused, watching him for a few moments, hoping he'd listen to reason. Surely he'd freeze out there...

"You don't have to come downstairs."

He paused at that. After all, the entire reason for his wanting to leave was the meeting, but... Maybe a walk would help him clear his mind anyway. He'd curled in on himself a lot already this month, not really going anywhere or doing much at all. Besides sleeping and sneaking downstairs to eat anyway.

"... I can go out if I want." He said then, defiant, stubborn. He felt fine, and had his coat on, not to mention he'd been through worse weather than this before. And Abel's worrying really didn't make things any better right now. He felt guilty about worrying him this much and didn't really understand it at the same time. Even if this was starting to become common. Somehow.

".... You don't need to worry."

"...alright. No, you're right, but please be back before too long. If it get's bad out there and you're not back, I'm coming to find you. Okay?"

He was only willing to compromise on this so far. You were his friend, after all. And maybe he was being a bit overbearing - he'd felt like it lately - but something weird was going on with your body. The way it was, just....decaying and reviving like that. How odd...

He looked down again, shivering a little when an especially strong gust of wind swept in through the window. His lips pulled into a tight line, when Abel mentioned going after him into the snow. He clenched his teeth and his fingers gripped tight to the window frame for a second as he felt a sudden rush of anger well up in him.

"Why?" He began, quietly, angry blue eyes staring right at him now.

"Is it going to be like with the zombies again?" He asked, voice low, shaky with restrained rage. He hadn't intended to get angry. He'd intended to just nod and slip out the window, but this was just not the time, not the month, for letting things just brush by him like that. "Stop doing reckless things for my sake!!" He snapped, before biting down on his bottom lip and averting his eyes.

"I don't need you to worry about me. I'm fine without it."

"...why? You have to ask? Really?"

He didn't sound angry in return. His tone was soft, gentle. He had a slight smile on his face. He wondered if Yoite really understood what Abel was. He didn't think the boy understood how he thought, but then he hadn't been around many like him.

"Well, it's...it is because I am your friend."

That threw him off a bit, and his eyes widened ever so slightly. Friend... Having friends was something he just didn't do. He didn't need them, didn't deserve them. Miharu had been his friend, Yukimi too... And while he'd come to understand their relationship to him, having those bonds erased had still been preferable.

For their sake...

But he supposed he couldn't do that here. He wouldn't know where to even start. "....."

Even if he tried to sever his bonds, the people he had come to know here... He would just end up hurting them. It would become all he knew how to do again. He hated this, this confusion, this wandering the fine line between coming to like someone and keeping them at arm's length. He shook his head, so hard that he almost slipped from where he was sitting, before looking at the priest again, eyes narrow. "Don't say unnecessary things like that!"

"Just... Stop it."

Stop being so kind to me...

He supposed he hadn't changed much at all...

"It's not unnecessary. It's just true."

He was very protective of his friends. The last time anything happened to one...ngh. It wasn't...

You just didn't want that to happen.

"It's unnecessary!" He snapped in return, anger welling right back up at those words. It was so frightening, so intensely terrifying, to think someone cared for him. That he couldn't stop them from doing so. That they couldn't see that he didn't deserve it, that he was disgusting and wrong again. He had come to accept a Yoite, a Yoite who knew who he had been. But that wasn't him now.

He was just that same thing that was better off left alone for the most part. That same thing that broke everything he touched.

"You don't know me, what I've done--!" He began, before shutting his mouth, frowning. "... Never mind."

Swinging both of his legs back inside then, he stood up and closed the window. The legs of his pants were already soaked from the snow. Suddenly his motivation to go out was just gone.

"I don't feel well." He announced, pulling his hat off and running a gloved hand through his hair to push it out of his face, "I'm going to bed."

"You don't know what I've done, either, for the record. That I still have faith in people..."

He shuts his eyes. He didn't...if Yoite wanted to know, he'd just ask. He opens them again, at his next words. ...he smiles.

"...rest well, Yoite. I hope you feel better soon.'

It wasn't that Yoite wasn't curious- It was just that he was extending the same courtesy of not asking a lot of questions. After all, if he began asking, then Abel would also be free to ask him about just what had happened in his world. And that was just something he'd rather avoid. The less he knew, the better.

Surely, it had to be that way for Abel too- Or else it would be something he was able to talk about without that sort of troubled feeling hanging over him.

".... I'm not going to ask." He said, glancing away as he put his hat down and began pulling his coat off to toss it over the back of a chair. Feeling a chill, he shivered before realizing that with his frazzled nerves he'd forgotten that he wasn't wearing his usual turtleneck and his eyes widened before he moved his hand over the scar on his neck. That was just something he'd rather not get into. Not now.

"...... I'll be fine once I get some sleep."

He notices. He notices the scar, his tone...

"...it's alright. I wouldn't pry, either way."

He'll just be heading out of the room now.
