A planeful - a plane full! - of petite rubber skunkettes, wearing goggles and a utility belt with assorted pressure measurement tools - taken up above the weather, then dropped out one at a time ("Go!" *meep!* "Go!" *meep!* "Go!" *meep!*) into the anomaly, bodies inflating and deflating accordingly as the airpressure changes around them, finally winding up floating in the ocean or bouncing to a rest on the shore, each one with a wallet full of cabcards to pay for their trip home to reveal their data...

Ok, now I understand the appeal of meteorology. *Meep!*

[serious mode] This isn't the first time. Hurricane Mitch in 1995 went to Category 5 in roughly the same area in early November. There is historical precedence for this happening. So it's not abnormal at all. Just part of the normal historical trend when it comes to storms.

Then again, considering Cozumel, I doubt the inflatable mephits would want to come back to the states... *gryn*
