Heehee, yeah, I really liked that line too, it just popped into my head, because I was always making fun of how Remus had to do the whole, "It is I, Remus John Lupin..." thing.

But I really don't see Andromeda as being that unaccepting of Remus in general, though any mother would be angry after a man leaves their daughter.

No, I don't think she would be THAT unaccepting, but I imagine she's still grieving and hurting from losing her own husband, a bit bitter that her daughter is very happy (but happy for them nonetheless), and I think she may still be holding a grudge against him for that night when he left her without so much as a goodbye to go do "mysterious work for the Order" (which turned out to be halfway through Chapter 11 - The Bribe of DH)...

I've always had this image of Tonks owning this stuffed wolf that was alive. Something she's had from when she was a kid...I actually have this fic I wrote a couple of years back of Remus meeting kid!Tonks for the first time...something like he was 20 and she was 6, and she had that stuffed wolf and Sirius declared them married or something...I'm going to put that one up one day...but that was the start of Tonks's Stuffed Wolf. It's actually taken on a personality of its own, I'm afraid it might start asking for its own fic one day, XDDDDD.

Oh my gosh, is there anything sweeter (and emotive) than this fic? I feel for Andromeda, I really do, and especially in this piece. I thought Tonks was rather harsh, and that harshness may not be a good thing, but I could see why she had to be. It's just a little glimpse at a moment in their lives in the midst of the war, and yet there is this kind of "normal" family life in there that is just precious. Well done.

Thank you very much! This was just one of those fics that I really wanted to write, coz I thought, well, Remus would be a really good father, and what if ickle Teddy felt that sort of pull to his father at such a young age? I actually thought, at some point, before I had gotten to the point of Remus and Tonks dying (::shudder::), that Teddy might end up a daddy's boy. :D I really did want them to have a a moment of peace, like the calm before the storm. I think a couple of weeks after this, they go off to fight at Hogwarts, so I really wanted to see them happy as a family at least once before the war.

Ouch. It can't have been an easy time for Remus, living with his in-laws.

But the scene with Remus and Tonks and Teddy is lovely. You've pitched Remus' voice just right, and I like that his confidence he finds in them and what he can do for them is returning. Loved the detail of Teddy matching his hair to Remus' while he was gone. Bit like his mom, huh? ;)

I did too, I'm finding I'm actually getting a bit attached to baby!Teddy...I'm convinced he was going to grow up a daddy's boy, if not for the fact that, OOOOH, you know, daddy ded.
