All right, I'm going to start with how I never thought about Remus as a necromancer, but I adore Garth Nix, and this worked better than I ever could have imagined. Let's tack on how well you incorporated the local, I can only assume you have lived in the area, because the detail was breathtaking.

I adored the way you handled this. As a reader you needed no knowledge of Nix's world for this to make sense, which is a rather impressive feat. And your language. Getting that last bit from Remus' POV was perfect, even if I did cry through the entire thing. This was wonderful, if entirely heartbreaking.

wow... just wow... this was genuinely thrilling and scary. i honestly did not know what to expect, but i found every twist and turn extremely satisfying. and now i want more! and even though i did not read it on halloween, i have to say this this was the ultimate halloween post. way to go mods and mystery author!

weirdly, i just returned from upstate new york, so it made the landscape (perfectly team place, might i add) even more eerie and perfect. i could just picture it all from remus's little house to the roads to the ruins of the final showdown.

and i've never read garth nix, but now i feel that i really need to. this was like the perfect introduction to that world. thank you!

Ooh how very fascinating this was, I was utterly intrigued from start to finish. The atmosphere you create and the language you use draws me in completely. I love this way of having He Who Must Not Be Named wanting to conquer Death, and Remus, oh Remus, his and Sirius' story was breathtaking. There are so many wonderful details from start to finish, and that last line?? Gah; it's perfect. Wonderful job!

It's been a long time since I read any Nix but you instantly took me back to that world, and the melding of it with the magic of Remus and Sirius' worked really well. The threads of mistrust and the sacrifice on both sides really echoed canon, but that ending gives just the right amount of hope for as happy an ending as they can have.

Let me take a deep breath and say this that if the death hadn't been hopeful, I might have died. Okay, that's so not an apt thing to say for this fic! But but ohhhhhh. This work is so gorgeous, it's a whole other world on its own. It's so completely AU yet every character is so in character, I'm awed by your work. I just loved the atmosphere here, can I say that this creeped me out like a Stephen King book? I love Stephen King so...anyway! The details are just on a whole other level, I could hair picture everything vividly here, and not having any knowledge of the bells and necromancer didn't trouble me either, everything was so mysterious yet clear where it was needed to be. <3 ( ... )
