Where's Robyn? In a Stupor

OK, so, here's the condensed version of the exposition: In February, I changed doctors. He recommended a new drug - the only FDA-approved drug for neuropathy (nerve pain). Blue Cross denied it and denied it and finally, after many hours on the phone, and faxing over 39 pages of medical records, they approved it.

I hope this sleepiness is only a start up side effect and wears off quickly. When I first started taking on of my anti-depressants it knocked me out so much that I was sleeping for 12 hours a night plus having to take another 3 hour sleep during the day. It took about 2 weeks for me to get used to it.

I have a friend who also is supposed to take lyrica. I'm not sure what her dosage is but she is supposed to take it in the morning and at night. She too sleeps like crazy on it. She's also gained A LOT of weight from taking it. Severe weight gain is one of the biggest side effects. I think she recently decided to stop taking it because of the tiredness and the weight gain.

I'm sorry to hear this. I was taking it and didn't really feel any side effects other than my feet started swelling. I don't take it all the time, because I don't have pain all the time. Glug. I hope the side effects go away and you're able to have some pain-free, non-groggy days.

The side effects got a bit better, but with work, I can't take that kind of time. If I had been on the meds in February when I was supposed to be, then I would have held off on getting a full time job. Anyway, as of Monday, I'll be going back on what I was taking before. Then, after I'm back on that, I'll be trying to go down on one of my other meds. I take 3 for pain, and I'd like to see that dwindle. I just hate the idea of being on hard drugs for the rest of my life.
If you don't mind my asking, what did you use the Lyrica for?

I have nerve damage in my elbow (Charcot's Joint) and so most of the time I cannot feel pain in my elbow I sometimes get sudden jolts of nerve pain. I'm not actually taking the Lyrica everyday at this point, but sometimes when it hurts for a few days I'll take it for a week or so and then stop again until I feel it's necessary.
