I remember when I was like... an icontest newb, and I used to ogle all the pretty "OH SHIT I'LL NEVER BE THAT COOL"-inducing winners over here and. :< ... I was going to ask the question astrokittie asked~...

Actually, punchbiopsy and I were talking about it, and we thought that maybe if there is enough participation in our 100th week, and someone else is interested in running the community, we might consider it. We think that maybe we've not done the right things to help this comm progress, and maybe other people can do better.
I can volunteer to help if you need it. I hate seeing communities die. *_*
I have no idea what happened, but in videogameawards, we basically banned square-enix based icons (they were all we ever got!) for a theme and it's the greatest turnout I've ever seen. I think a lot of it might be that people feel that they are seeing the same old thing over and over again?... Now if only I knew how to get people to vary their submissions more frequently. *grumble*
Yes, that is a possible cause; but I believe that this community in particular has received a variety of icons instead of being restricted to one type, for which I am grateful, of course. But if we are to have new moderators for this comm, we'll have to see how their future decisions progress.
D: This is my favorite icontest. Hands down. I'm going to be really sad to see it go, but I'll make sure to enter the last challenge.
And ah, the reason I stopped entering as much was because there wasn't so much of a challenge as before. The people like snm_queen and anniereckless and rabanastre and all the other video game "pros" stopped entering and I stopped having to aspire to be as good as them. Iunno, that's just me though.

Well, it is a fact that people lose the motivation/drive to make icons sometimes, and I accept that; except for this case everything's just going downhill.
Also, not to badger you or anything, but please try to finish your pending banners as soon as possible. Thank you.
I just found this icontest a few weeks ago. Hopefully the leaving announcement will make everyone go "ONOEZ" and submit crazily. Losing a comm is a sad thing, especially when it's as good as this one. :(
