I have no idea how to play him and it's leaving ME in despair. Can anyone give me tips?

Disclaimer: I'm leaving in the next five-ten minutes, so it's very likely I'll trail off awkwardly mid-tl;dr. If that happens, I'll return with a part two...later.

And at this point I remember I owe an Itoshiki a tag. Oh well.I'm of the opinion that Itoshiki-sensei is a character who is a comedic foil in nature, and requires characters to bounce off of to be played to his fullest. His students (Kafuka with her absurdly tragic backstory and cheerful personality, Chiri and her perfection, Matoi's stalking, hell, even Kudo and his storytelling) are designed to get reactions out of him, to cause him to launch into his 'despair' speech and distract him from his attempted suicide through all sorts of wacky hijinks. None, sadly. This is really helpful though, thank you very much! I've just gotten into the idea of RPing Itoshiki-sensei through watching the first series of SZS, so here's my second question. As far as filling out an app goes, would watching Zoku and Goku be integral? (Can't really say anything about Zan since it's still ongoing)
