[Continued from here: http://rp-shadesofgray.livejournal.com/193907.html ]I stay where I am, waiting for Mohinder to catch up. I'm keeping an eye -- or more accurately, my mind -- on Gabriel, making sure that he's not up to attacking while Mohinder's back is turned. It doesn't seem ( Read more... )

"Don't be silly, Matt. Of course I'll go with you," I reply, walking up to him. My tone is somewhat exasperated, but I'm smiling, just a bit. He sounds a little worried, and I suppose I can understand that. It was an extremely odd situation, after all. "I've survived several encounters with Sylar before, you know, and I didn't have anything but my wits for most of those."

It is reaching me, how that whole thing must've looked from the outside. "I apologize for not leaving any sort of notice. I needed a break, and I had no idea I was going to end up where I did. The odd thing was, I think I'd been trying to get away from Sylar in the first place." And that reminds me. "Just what did you do to him, anyway- the one that we have? He kept going on about Angela when I was stuck in that cell with him."

[ooc: Apologies for disappearing, I've had a migraine- but it's gone now! :D ]

"You survived your previous encounters with Sylar because you didn't have an ability that he wanted," I point out. "From what we know there's a bunch of them in this place. Any one of which might want your ability." I pop open the car door and get in, leaning over to push the one on his side open. Brand new car and door sticking. I'll have to have someone look at that.

"But okay, it's fine needing a break. We could all use one after this." I'm dedicated to the job, sure, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate time to myself. "Next time you need one, maybe you'll consider taking someone with you?"

I wait until he's buckled up and then turn the car to head home, glancing over at him briefly when he asks me about Sylar. "He's got an attachment to Angela. I made him think that she was talking to him. Why, did he seem incoherent in any way?"

Sylar didn't kill me because I didn't have an ability? Please. Every time we've encountered each other, one of us has attempted to murder the other (usually both). Perhaps he has extra incentive now, yes, but that doesn't mean I'd let him any more than I have before. If anything I could surprise him.

I drop down into the car as he tells me to consider taking someone along for a break. I nod, thoughtfully, then give him a small smile. "I'll at least see if you need to get out yourself, first. I feel as if I haven't gotten a chance to talk to you since we started working together."

Ah, giving Sylar an attachment explains a great deal and makes sense. Now, was he incoherent...? "Not really. He did seem to have more of a death wish than usual, but I suppose that happens when one is that frustrated." I shrug. "Is that attachment something you have to keep up?" I ask, curious. I really don't know much about mental manipulation.

"We're talking now, aren't we? But yeah, I might want to go do something that's not job related." I watch the road for a minute, thinking. He's not the Mohinder I knew, but they have the same personality, even if their personal history are different. The way they behave and the pattern to their thoughts share a comforting familiarity ( ... )
