Your third to last paragraph greatly offended me in many ways:

1. Barry Manilow is a God and can do no wrong. He beats everyone in every category ever.

2. My mom watches Monk religiously. It is one of her favorite shows.

Okay, so that is only two ways and you did start and end the paragraph with things that I completely agree with so I guess I can still be friends with you.

1. barry manilow scares me. like, actually scares me.

2. my parents love Monk too, and so does TSM's parents. it must be a parent-thing. and i guess the academy of television and motion pictures is composed mostly of parents.

i am glad we can still be friends.

Why does he scare you? I saw him in concert a couple of years ago and he was phenomenal. While he is not the greatest singer, he is an excellent entertainer. I saw the thing that he won for and it was very well done. Yes, I am biased, but I almost considered buying it (which is something that I never feel about musical DVDs).

he has only recently started scaring me, and it's for a superficial reason: his face. he has had some plastic surgery that makes him look like artificial, like a mannequin. it's not just him, though. i am also scared of kathy lee gifford.

I nearly hurled something at the screen when Barry Manilow beat Stephen Colbert.

But for me, the true fun of the Emmys (or any award show) is judging the stars' outfits. There were a lot of good dresses last night. Well done, Hollywood. I awarded first place to Debra Messing, I think.

i love the fashion, too, but i didn't get very good looks at the clothes. the only ones i remember really liking were evangeline lilly's and edie falco's. i also thought helen mirren looked elegant.

Oh yes, Helen Mirren did look very elegant.

I used to think Monk was a parent-show, but then I watched a few episodes on weekends when they replay them and discovered that I really like it.

it's true that i've never given Monk a chance, but i just can't get over how Tony Shaloub keeps winning. is his acting really that good?

Monk is really funny - I don't watch it often, except for when Jon randomly puts it on during a marathon on a sat or sunday. anyway, I think his acting is very good, but I never understand why people win emmy's over and over again, gotta give someone else a chance!

i will forever think of Tony Shaloub as the taxi driver on Wings. but maybe i should give Monk a chance?

it's kinda one of those shows that you watch if it happens to be on... tony shaloub's acting far outshines the rest of the show!

also, I meant to comment before, I can't believe I missed john krasinski all dressed up in a suit! crap! that is what I get for thinking "I'll just read about the winners tomorrow."

maybe you can find a picture online of the whole Office gang onstage. he was kind of behind everyone, though, so the only thing you may be able to see is his face, which isn't so bad if you think about it.

That is the bestest scone recipe ever! I made some this weekend with fresh wild blueberries, and half white/half wheat bran flour. Apples and cinnamon? I'll have to remember that.
