Min was on a break from rehearsal. She and her fellow performers were still putting the finishing touches on their plans for Friday's show, but for now they were taking a bit of time outside, catching some fresh air and talking of other things
( ... )
Well, that was odd. Cedric put the rest of the money into the bag quickly, tied it shut, and deposited it in the inside pocket of his jacket. Behind him, the man was attempting to lift the sack full of game, and Cedric could hear him stumble as the weight of it threw him off balance. Lift that thing unassisted? No way.
He watched the coin. He didn't reach for it. He didn't try to stop it in any way. He just watched it, and looked a bit bored, though he was actually quite interested. He'd heard that there were more Magicians in the city now, but the only one he'd met was Jemaine. He didn't look around for the source. Whoever it was would either approach him, or attempt to finish stealing from him.
Min's smile didn't change as she approached him. She kept her eyes on the coin. It was out of necessity, but it also happened to be handy way of letting him know who was greeting him.
"Impressive skills," she said as she came up alongside him -- and then she let go of her hold on the coin. She didn't try to catch it. He could catch it himself, or let it fall.
"Not sure I'd call it a skill." Cedric didn't take his eyes off of Min. He moved his hand underneath the coin, caught it, and put it in his pocket. "What can I do for you?" She had a reason for coming over, and he had some time to spare to find out what it was.
He wouldn't? Her eyebrows raised, which also made the design on the right side of her forehead shift, scrunch into a slightly different shape. "Impressive talent, then." She glanced back toward the stand he'd been walking away from, once again worrying her bottom lip with her teeth. "Imagine a magician of your abilities would have caused quite a splash soon after his arrival. So either this is your first day... or you're a worldwalker."
She looked up at him, head tilted. Curious and hopeful.
