Bret was waiting outside, holding the iguana carefully. It didn't seem to like Jemaine and his track record with animals in Rowan was pretty poor so far. It hadn't bitten him or anything yet, it was just awfully squirmy. Like it didn't want to sit still. He hoped it wouldn't pee on him.
He spotted a young girl heading down the street toward them and waved a little. "Ariana?"
"Hello!" The redhead absolutely beamed at him as she slowed to a walk went she got closer to him. He was holding something. Awww, it was cute. Was that an iguana? Probably. It seemed iguana-ish. Even if she didn't know what iguana-ish was.
Bret lost his grip on the iguana, shivering a little as it jumped onto his shoulder and shimmied down his back. He'd have chased after it frantically if that had been the first time it'd done that. He turned and watched in mild annoyance as the iguana scuttled through the slightly
"Um. Let's go in." He pressed the door open the rest of the way, hoping the iguana wouldn't be clinging to the bass's strings again.
As the pair entered the apartment Jemaine was attempting to stow his bass, preferably somewhere as high as physically possible. Retrospectively it was a bad idea leaving Bret as the sole guardian of an animal, Jemaine shortly realised, as the iguana suddenly skidded into his room and latched firmly onto his leg. Jemaine jerked backwards and hissed, shaking his leg fiercely, and reached down to take the lizard around the neck, hopping on the spot.
"Bret," he snapped, storming from the room with the iguana outstretched. "I told you to -- oh. Hi." Fantastic.
"Hello!" Bret. The one she had seen outside was Bret, so this was Jemaine. She could totally remember this.
She missed the voices. They reminded her of names and things. It was kind of like having... having what? Those little book things you wrote names it. Memo book? Memo book. It was like having a memo book in her head, to tell her things when she needed them.
...Bret. And Jemaine. Or Jemaine and Bret? Shoot.
Ariana reached out towards the iguana with a smile. Jemaine (Bret? But she thought it was Jemaine) didn't seem to want it, after all.
