"Correct-a-mundo." Sonic got to his feet and stretched. "Although there's also the question of why all of us worldwalkers didn't fall into a coma. From what I can tell, the victims are all Rowan natives. There are some I didn't recognize at first, though."

He walked over to the third chamber as well, stopping on the threshold and leaning against what for lack of a better term could be called the door frame. "Most of these folks, in fact. 'Cept for Royal, of course."

Cedric considered this for a moment. "This battle that happened in the city. battle between two Rowan natives, right? Maybe this is a result of something they've done. Maybe everyone in this world is a coma and we're the only ones who aren't comatose because we're the only ones who don't belong here." It was as good a theory as any other.

Cedric stopped thinking about it almost instantly, though, because there he was, lying on the floor on a pile of palm fronds, looking peaceful and completely untroubled. Ginny's murdered. Defenseless and at his mercy, but that didn't register. All he saw was that stare turning on the exact spot Ginny was standing, automatic and unfeeling, and the column of flame that had filled the whole room with the scent of singed hair and burning flesh.

Cedric saw red, and Kale was already bruising by the time he started over, bent on making this-- this monster feel the pain he'd caused Ginny. He didn't deserve peace. He didn't deserve people looking after him as though he wasn't a killer.

Sonic hadn't been in the room when Ginny had died. He wouldn't have been able to recognize her killer, not for anything.

But he would have had to be a complete idiot not to recognize the intent of what Cedric was doing. How far would Sonic have to go to stop him? He didn't stop to wonder, not for long. He only moved, and in less than a second he was in front of Cedric, holding a hand pressed to the man's torso.

"Let's not get carried away, here," he said calmly- knowing that it wouldn't be enough.

"He killed Ginny! He burned her to death and didn't stop even after he heard her screaming. He murdered her without any thought, and you're telling me not to get carried away?" Cedric shook his head, now directing some of his anger at Sonic. "What's wrong with you?"

Okay, well at least Cedric was talking to him instead of just trying to barrel through. It was better than Sonic had expected. He started to draw back his hand, slowly releasing pressure- but still stood his ground, ready to move again if Cedric made another attempt.

"I just know you don't hurt people when they're defenseless," he said. "Ginny wasn't defenseless. She wasn't unconscious, without the slightest chance to protect herself."
