Casting news and other stuff

Well, it seems more of the cast for the next film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been confirmed. How nice. :) Still waiting for word if Gary Oldman will still be Sirius Black. Rumour (and his representatives) says he won't.

Also I'm getting more and more interested in the upcoming tv series Brotherhood. The teaser photos are *ahem* ( Read more... )

They made a nice choise for the role of Umbridge. I can imagine her looking like that. Others are pretty much the same as before...

It still bugs me that actors playig Remus, Sirius and Snape are too old. They are supposed to be in their mid thirties, not sixty like Alan Rickman.

By the book 5, probably forty or so. Perhaps dark magic is not good for one's complexion? ;)

Well, Sirius has a reason to look old. He's been in Azkaban... And Remus has a reason too. Snape doesn't.

I don't understand what made Gary Oldman do such a decision if he is not going to be in the Order of the Phoenix. Strange...

I'm hoping that they'd get the Brotherhood here as fast as possible! Usually we have to wait so long that I've already got it on DVD before it ever makes on the air... :) Me? Obsessed? Really?!

We can't never know what's going on backstage, who thinks what and who wants what.
It may not be Gary's idea at all, it might be the producers, it might be some legal problem, personal problem or practically anything.
What they say in public announcements doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the facts behind decisions.

That's not only how it's done in the movie world. The same applies to most workplaces. At least mine...

But I hope Gary will be in the next film. I never like it when they change actors in the middle of a tv series or movie series.

Perhaps I'm just a tack too naive when I'm thinking this situation, but I'm just wondering.

All kinds of reasons might have affected to the possible decision, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'd be able to do the part of Sirius Black. When Richard Harris died and they took Michael Gambon to play the part of Dumbledore, the change was almost natural since both Dumbledores were alike (even though the acting wasn't). Now if they change the actor in Sirius... boy would that be awkward.

Then again, it could be a publicity stunt of somesort...

I don't really like HP movies (as opposed to books), so I guess I am not the target audience, but even I think it's weird Oldman won't be Sirius. What, is Harry going to go "Cool to see plastic surgery worked, like you wrote me in your last letter, Sirius" to a completely new actor?

Ever since the first movie there have been discussions whether or not the three main actors (Radcliffe, Watson and Grint) will continue at all and/or for how long. Actually it's a little miracle they have been acting in HP movies for this long, but I sincerely hope they will until the last one.

If changing Sirius would be odd, how about changing Harry, Ron and Hermione. Or just one of them.
I don't even dare to think...
Radcliffe isn't the best actor in the world (well duh!), but all three of them have grown into their roles so well, that it would be really weird to see someone else do it. That's my humble opinion.
