CENTAURS
Tobin Paap - Male Centaur
Age of appearance: 45-50
At first glance, Tobin Paap seems almost clownish, absurd, a caricature of a person. He insists on the Centaurs under his - rule? Command? Leadership? - constantly drilling, practicing coordinated movements, things that obviously don't come naturally to them, often giving them a good whack with his stick when they step out of line. He's enthusiastic, kind, gruff and has a little bit of an attention span problem, but when it comes down to it, he's incredibly smart and very knowledgeable.
DEMONS
Zosima - Female Demon [senator_zosima] [DECEASED]
Age of appearance: 60
Zosima is the hedonistic demon senator traveling with the army as civilian oversight. She is uncomfortable with her tenuous power balance with Royal and emotionally capricious.
Nazarene - Female Demon
Age of appearance: 30
Nazarene is River Royal's second-in-command, a very strong, fast demon with passable skill at shamanism. She's smart and reliable, and a little bit lesbian, and he trusts her completely.
Niko - Male Demon
Age of appearance: 22
Niko is a bright, young sorcerer in service to River Royal. Sometimes outspoken and prone to fits of geekery over his magic, he's quirky, friendly, and perhaps not as totally reliable as he could be.
Markon - Male Demon [armordoesnthelp]
Age of appearance: 36
Markon is an older soldier in the demon army, devoted to his duty but not bloodthirsty. He misses his brother, who died in the battle in which Jhelbor was taken from Elf control by the demons.
Kale - Male Demon
Age of appearance: 22
A young, academic fire mage, Kale was recruited out of mage city by Royal. Technically half-demon and half-human, his childhood was in some ways both sheltered from and defined by the war.
Evelyn Danze - Female Demon [nothappyplace]
Age of appearance:
Evelyn is an Enchantress of great skill. She is frequently used by Royal to interrogate prisoners of war. Cold, calculating, and very direct, she is generally left on her own by people who are largely too afraid of getting on her bad side to interact with her at all.
ELVES
Quahl - Female Elf [quahl]
Age of appearance: 30-35
Quahl introduces herself as Fifth Daughter of the Elves; she carries a great deal of responsibility on her shoulders, and she bears it well. She fled the city after the battle with General Royal's forces.
Mikney - Male Elf [mikney]
Age of appearance: 35-40
Actual Age: 60
Court sorcerer, and highly mysterious, Mikney is quiet, soft-spoken and sometimes pained, but has hidden strength that's evident only when he works magic. He is currently imprisoned by the Demon forces in Jhelbor, and it has been revealed that he, because of his magical interference with the Rowan Tree, is in the process of transforming from a sorcerer into a druid.
Tamber - Male Elf [DECEASED]
Age of appearance: 12-15
Though Tamber appears young, he is a great deal more mature and intelligent than a human of similar appearance. He holds the position of Scout within the Elven army, and is currently partnered with a Sylph named Ankhyrad.
Dier - Male Elf [DECEASED]
Age of appearance: ~30
Dier was the medic for the local Elves in Jhelbor. He died in the battle for Jhelbor.
Lhoral - Female Elf
Age of appearance: ~30
Lhoral was one of the Elf guards and caretakers in Rowan. Slightly socially awkward, she isn't sure how to behave around humans, and is often taken aback by their eccentricities.
The Mother - Female Elf
Age of appearance: ~72
The Mother is the matriarch of the elven ruling family. It is her responsibility to give birth to and raise the next generation of The Family. Having spent time raising nine children, she is more understanding of the curious and sometimes annoying (by elven standards) ways of the worldwalkers.
GATE GUARDIANS
Devorah - Female Elf
Age of appearance: 55
Devorah is ninety years old and a former Elf hero who left the Elf army when she grew bitter about the direction of the war. She has currently sworn herself to protect those through the Gate.
Arlen - Male Demon [DECEASED]
Age of appearance: 25-27
Quick-witted, intelligent, and an extremely fast learner, Arlen is a dangerous opponent and a tricky ally. Despite his own youth - he is sixteen years old - he is a full-fledged Gate Guardian, and an extremely powerful air mage.
Jason - Male Human
Age of appearance: 25-27
Drunken, friendly and a little bit of a rogue, Jason will hit on anything that's female and moves. His background is currently a mystery, but he apparently considers himself a good guy.
GOBLINS
River Royal - Male Goblin [man_and_monster]
Age of appearance: 38
River Royal is the dashing, charismatic general in charge of the Demon army. His cleverness and his use of innovative new military tactics is famed throughout Rowan, and, when he speaks, a crowd always listens. Though biologically a Goblin, not a Demon, River Royal is admired and trusted by all under his command.
HUMANS
Elimyr - Female Human
Age of appearance: 15
Elimyr is a young, deeply twisted water mage that has been raised by mermaids. She has indicated that her past involved torture at their hands; now, she is devoted to their service.
Jay Wainwright - Male Human
Age of appearance: 35
Wainwright, the owner/operator of Wainwright Transportation and Fine Candies, can often be found in his airship carrying mail from one city to the next. He's friendly and outgoing, and currently in the service of River Royal.
Kenneth Quinn - Male Human
Age of appearance: 30
Quinn is a trader and merchant with the reputation of being able to acquire anything he likes, from any species, from any place. Quiet and dark, he can always be found with an alcoholic drink in his hand.
King Richard of Meredith - Male Human
Age of appearance: 50
Richard of Meredith is a drunken sloth, a womanizer, and an embarrassment of a king.
Prince Frederick of Meredith - Male Human
Age of appearance: 45
Frederick of Meredith is the only reason that the human kingdom hasn't collapsed. He should have been king, and he knows it.
Queen Nora of Meredith - Female Human
Age of appearance: 35
Young and beautiful, Nora is King Richard's wife and mother of the crown princess. She is calm and regal, but knows that her position depends on the life of her child, and acts accordingly.
Princess Clara of Meredith - Female Human
Age of appearance: <10
Clara is mischievous, rebellious and completely unaware of the the reality of hardship in Rowan. She's sheltered and selfish, because of her ignorance of the true effects of her actions -- but, on the flip side, she can also be astonishingly kind, without a thought.

All that is concretely known about September is that he is a Necromancer from one of the larger families, and that 'September' is not his real name.

Thrace is a guide who works out of Jericho. His methods, while effective, have a tendency to provoke his employers.
