Long time no see: What happened in Canada (not exactly what I'd planned)

I can't stay online long - I have internet problems and my neighbours have very kindly let me use their system while I'm on extended sick leave, so here goes. (Sorry if this seems brusque, but my energy levels are really the lowest they've been since transplant and I just can't be more perky right now

Oddly enough I remember it as a largely positive experience, although it is hardly what I planned. I was pretty scared though. It could have been a whole lot worse.

In the midst of that nightmare you were lucky to be in Canada.
What would happen if you fell ill in the US ?
Would you have to sell your house and your cat to pay the hospital bill ?

Too true. However I am not Canadian, so although I got fabulous health care I still ahve to pay - or rather, my health and travel insurance does. And it was pretty darn pricey I can tell you, although worth every penny. I shall certainly never travel without insurance in future.

Oh, wow. That's... I'm so sorry this happened, but kudos to Canada and their Healthcare System of Awesome.

Thanks! I'm back on my feet literally and metaphorically. It was in the end a positive experience and now I have immunity to chicken pox (I trust). Canada's health care system is made of awesome.
