Thank you for another treat. I love the rich experience of life your Sirius’s pov conveys. (I mean the way he observes the marrow, and Remus as well.) He seems to live so fully in the moment, like a child, perhaps because he has so few memories. That’s how he’s a perfect character for a vivid narrative, and you take advantage of him excellently.
This must be my favourite line. “Damn,” Remus said softly, and they both regarded the marrow gloomily. The humour and the presence of damage are here so perfectly intertwined

Thanks :) I think Sirius has a pretty intense take on the world throughout his life, and here he's desperately trying to absorb as much information as possible. I try to write him as blazingly intelligent, so I think he'd get a lot out of his understanding.
The humour and the presence of damage are here so perfectly intertwined. - Thank you :) In an odd way, that sentence sums up everything I love about these books.
That's a really interesting perspective. I try to be careful to always write more than romance (I don't always succeed). These two have had such brutally complex lives that it would be a bit of a travesty not to acknowledge it in writing about them.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment :) You're making me think about what I'm writing more, which makes it all fascinating.
These are creating a really lovely story. I love how it has been paced so far. There is also a wistfulness to them that is both heartbreaking and sweet at the same time.
I love writing wistful things, and here I really think it suits the period - the Sirius I see in OotP is one who is really trying to make things work again, despite the circumstances.

These two interact in such interesting ways, but the sense you get from canon is of such a strong relationship, despite their differences. It's fun to work out the little clashes and interactions.

Loved this line...and the whole thing really. Sirius's urge to protect Remus from burning his hands is a touching little detail.
Very interested to see where you take this next.
