I grew up with indoor-outdoor cats and too many disappeared or ended up dead for me to be able to abide by that rule as an adult. I thought about leashes and tried them on my two cats when they were kittens but they would NOT tolerate the harnesses, so I gave that up after a couple months. It would be nice to have a spacious cage like that - one of my friends growing up had a cage that connected both inside the garage to the outside with a big tunnel, so that the dogs could go inside when they were kenneled up if it was too cold or too hot and I thought it was the coolest damn thing
