Yet another multipurpose post...

Oops, it dawned on me that I never did make that post about all the Darren McGavin and Simon Oakland shows/movies I had seen. Well, for one thing, I saw the two-part Combat eps "The Long Way Home," in which Simon played a WWII sergeant who, along with his men, had been captured in a Stalag, where they are tortured for information, but refuse to ( Read more... )

You know it's funny, this week I watched that two-parter of Combat! (it being my current obsession) and I loved that episode. Sergeant Saunders can convince anybody just about anything. Anyway, there's another Combat! ep called "The Old Men" with Simon Oakland and I thought it was a really good one. You might enjoy it.

I never did get around to watching Mrs. Pollifax: Spy, but my sibs really liked that one. I'll have to find it on Netflix and see it sometime.

Ooh, awesome, I'll have to check that one out--I haven't see that ep yet...

I hope you get the chance to--it's awesome!

Say, did you see The Old Men episode of Combat! ? It's up now too. More Simon!

The Long Way Home is so amazing. I definitely need to watch it again.

I like sports movies if the plot is good (I like biopics sometimes, and ones with moral lessons). That's too bad about The Natural.

I look forward to being able to see Mrs. Polifax!

I thought the next new episode wasn't for two weeks. The preview I looked at said the 22nd. This Sunday is the 8th. That means there'd be yet another rerun week in between.

A fic similar to Once Upon a Time/about three of my fics, done for The Monkees. It's certainly an intriguing idea! I'm not fully sure if I think Baby Face would get mixed up with Mr. Zero or not, but the idea of him taking on a Mr. Gold-type role is interesting. I was going to do a fic where Baby Face was on trial in Mr. Zero's courtroom for his soul's fate, so that might be the source of my unsurety. If Baby Face does decide to work with Mr. Zero in your fic, I'm guessing Tony wouldn't like it and think it was a bad idea.

I have not seen that--but that will hopefully soon be remedied!

Yessss...

*nods*

Hope you enjoy it!

Eh? *looks again* Oh, bleah. *headdesk* Why...?

Ah, well, I wouldn't want to ruin your plans for your fic; I can easily change that angle. Ooh, I know what I want to do with Davy's alternate world--he can be the Earl of Hagglethorn!

Yes, you should get to it as soon as you can! There's some Simon hurt/comfort and he delivers an amazing and sometimes heartbreaking performance.

I'm sure I will! I probably won't get to see it until the DVD On Demand is released.

So annoying. I think that means that the last few episodes will air in an unbroken stretch, though.

Oh, it wouldn't ruin anything for any fic. I'm not sure which plans you're referring to, but if you mean the fic in general I've finished the Perry one and the other ones are indefinitely stalled. If you mean the Baby Face and Mr. Zero angle, well, that's entirely different from what you want to do. There wouldn't be any overlap. (And it's also indefinitely stalled.) I guess I'm just not sure if Baby Face would make a deal with what's basically the Devil. At least if he fully understood what he was getting into. I doubt he would like being in debt to anyone or anything.

LOL, Davy.

Ooooh. Yes, I must watch this....

I believe it's available for Netflix streaming.

Ah, yeah, that'll be good. Wow, I can't believe there're only 4 left--I do wonder how they'll manage to tie up all the loose ends...

*nods*

LOL

I don't remember having seen that particular Monkees episode, but it does sound very interesting, mixing comedy and fantasy like that.

Wha...? You haven't seen "The Devil and Peter Tork"?! It's so intense and awesome, and definitely one of my most favorite eps. Basically, Peter wanders into a pawn shop that's owned by the Devil (who is referred to in-universe as "Mr. Zero"), who gets Peter to sign a contract that promises that he'll turn over his soul to Mr. Zero in exchange for the power to play a special harp and become a success. Mr. Zero eventually comes to collect Peter's soul, and, of course, the other Monkees will have none of it. You simply must see this ep!

Okay, off topic, but before I forget and from looking at your icon, did you say you picked up Black or White again? Got Black yesterday, and so far really enjoying it. :D

Nope, none of that rings a bell. I'll have to see it then.

I got White, but I can't use it for another 2 months. XD No spoilers, please; I want my White run to be totally blind--I know absolutely minimal things about Generation V (I only researched the starters so that I'd know who I'd want to start with--and I'm starting with Oshawott. Who did you start with/what did you name him?), so I want to discover everything for myself like I did with Generation I more than a decade ago (gah, I feel old...). The Platinum run is going to be semi-blind; I had to look some stuff up because it's going to influence my HeartGold run.

Yes, you do!
