OK, I'm not engaged or anything, but since I undeniably possess a vagina, I do the stupid girl thing and like to plan my dream wedding. And hey, to be fair, I've been dating Doug for five years, so who knows; I might just be saving time for the future

tell me you saw that. PLEASE.
Also, at least he's agreed to a hand fasting. The few times Mike and I have talked about it, I get the "circle makes me feel uncomfortable" speech, which means if I marry him, I'll never get the kind of religious ceremony I want.

The Thelemic wedding may involve a naked priestess, so Doug has no right to complain about my "silly pagan rituals" (he's teasing). Really, I'll just be happy with the carousel and a band. All the food could be homemade and served buffet style; I don't want something lavish and so high classed that I feel awkward and bored like I am at most weddings. Heck, carnival wedding will probably have cupcakes. I just want my wedding to be fun, unlike pretty much all the weddings I've been to.

Yes! I love the Katamari wedding. I'm guilty of strolling by OBB when I'm bored and in need of photo inspiration. I love the photography that tends to get featured.
I just wanted a private hand fasting. I'd probably end up writing the ritual myself, but that requires him being in sacred space, and he's thrown several fits about that. I've since stopped asking. It gets really awkward at functions with my college friends when we want to call circle and he's pouting in the corner messing up my vibe.
I haven't really thought about what I'd want in my wedding, other then this song:

But more to the point, I myself regretted not doing my wedding the way I wanted it to be-- which would have been a casual affair on the beach...a complete 180 degrees away from the standard formal banquet which I ended up doing because I was anxious to do the 'right thing' and please all my relatives and his relatives.
Everyone was pleased...except me.
So don't settle for something you won't like, because this really is a once-in-a-lifetime kinda thing and you really want to have lovely memories of it.
