You know, most the time I can't decide if my family's the strangest thing ever or completely normal. Yeah, my dad is and isn't my dad (and happens to be bloody rich), and I'm married to a half alien, but we all love each other and see each other a lot, and sometimes we even eat together like normal ordinary people

Gold is extremely useful, you know. Especially the pure form (and your mother doesn't buy cheap tasteless jewellery). It's extremely non-reactive, so it's not going to rust or corrode. And it's soft, so it's easy to work with.

I give it half an hour before she remembers the tie, by which time I'll have reinforced the doors.
