Hopefully you click with this counselor. That's always tricky too- finding someone who works for you. I've had some bad experiences with counselors who did not fit me at all. Sometimes it's obvious on day one, sometimes it takes a while, and sometimes you get lucky on the first try.

Does your church/ward/temple have a support group of some kind? I have a friend who goes to a church that has a women's support group where they're able to talk about depression/anxiety/etc. and she finds it really helpful. It may be something to look into down the road.

Okay, I knew in theory that the right fit for a counselor was important, but WHOA. I hadn't really processed that talking about all the stuff you normally don't talk about, WITH A STRANGER, would be so intense. Huh.

Ah, Rosie. I hadn't realized it had been two years. *hugs* You know you can ping me anytime, right? I'm glad that it seems from this post things are getting a bit better.

I've been struggling with depression most of my life.
How incredibly frustrating. I do think I was possibly experiencing some depression as a teenager, but I haven't had that (prolonged) experience as an adult until 2010.

Depression really is sneaky. I had no idea exactly how sneaky.

And thanks for posting about this. Knowing I'm not alone is a huge help.
*hugs* Y'know, I debated posting this on a filter, but I guess I was finally ready to make a public post about it for that very reason--because sometimes it helps to know you're not the only one.
