After learning about the students she's been assigned to in the mentoring program Rose made a call to each of them, she's really not sure what to say to them. She's only gotten the teaching down only just, so if she's fiddling a bit with her laptop and other files it's because she's nervous. Daleks, Cybermen, Krillatanes easy. After lunch, River knocked on the door to Rose's office.

Rose heard the knock, "Yes, come in!"

River entered the room, looking curiously at Rose. "River Tam," she said. "You're my mentor."

It came quite natural to look into Rose's mind while she spoke.

Rose rose from her seat and smiled at her, "Hello, River, nice to meet you, please, have a seat!"

River took a seat, a little nervouslt, but then smiled at Rose. "What are we supposed to do?"

"Don't be nervous, we're just here to talk, get to know each other." Rose said, smiling trying to put the girl at ease. "I promise, I don't bite."

River didn't look quite convinced. "Wolves don't bite?" she asked.

But then Rose seemed genuinely friendly, so she shook her head. "Sorry."

"Um, well, not if they're tamed." Rose said, confused. "Anyway, here we are I'm quite new at this teaching thing, maybe you can tell me a little about yourself?"

That was always a tricky question. "I was born on the planet of Osiris, 500 years into the future from now. I went to a government-run secret training program, and my brother got me out from there. I can read minds." It was always fair to mention that, River thought. "But yours is very hard to read."

Rose's hand self-consciously flew to her head, "Hard to read? Really? That's strange." She cleared her throat, a little disturbed and tried to focus on River's words. "500 years into the future? I've been there, I don't know if it's the same universe though." Rose frowned, "I don't think I much like your government. Used to topple governments like that for fun back in the day."

"You're welcome to topple them," River replied drily. "So tell me about you?" She could pick up some things of course, but it was always nicer to ask.

"Nothing special about me," Rose said with an easy smile, "21st century girl, currently working for the government -- not evil, I checked. And continue checking. Here on sabbatical for a season, elder sister to a bolt of energy called Grace and I love travelling and adventures."

"Oh, dancing!" River beamed. "I love dancing. Pippi and I have started the Dance club."

"And the black of space - is beautiful."

"Good for you!" Rose said, encouraging, beaming at her, "And, honestly, nothing is better than stepping foot on another new world, best experience in the world."

Rose remembered one of the best planet's she's visited -- Woman Wept and remembered the towering wave frozen in its fury by the sudden ice storm.
