So if Justin turned up, he would have gotten the awards, not only for Favourite Male but also for Favourite Video. And also the Fashion Icon. Plus Most Influential Artist. Not to forget the Inspiration Award.
Isn't that the truth?
I already predicted that Gareth Gates would win simply because he was there. And Linkin Park won Favourite Video probably because they toured Asia. Eh.
And do you know what MTV Asia response in today's The Straits Times? Mr Mishal Varma, event producer for last Saturday's show, said that "MTV truthfully reflects the choice of the viewers in the region" and "ultimately, the MTV Asia Awards is a viewer-voted show". He also revealed that "Gates had 7 per cent more of the votes than Timberlake" and that "Gates has sold more than 200,000 albums in the region, while Timberlake has sold only 150,000 copies". He added that "people have a right to choose. Justin Timberlake might be in the press for a lot of things but that does not mean that people are voting for him".
Somehow, the last comment just doesn't sit right with me. It feels a bit negative to me, the way he said it. I'm still not believing him, and MTV Asia for that matter though. Based on past awards shows, the cheers for Justin, and hello? T.A.T.U won for fav breakthrough act over 50 cent? That's impossible! And they were such old news! So yes, I can believe myself.
There is some truth in that last statement. Many people aren't really into Internet voting. They may love/like him but not everyone will go online and vote for him.
However, the way they were hyping Gates up before the award made me believe that the result was fixed regardless whether he had 7% more votes than Justin.
Mr. Mishal Varma can say whatever he likes. Gareth Gates didn't sell 7 million records worldwide and he's not a two time Grammy winner. So really, he can keep the award (which was fugly). Heh.

And T.A.T.U winning that award made me laugh.
