By the way, though, Satyrs do generally have goat legs and tails, at least from the Roman tradition (taken from the god Faunus...the Greeks believed them as human-like but with horse-tails). Where did you get the "foxy" from? I wonder if there were any fox beings in European mythology, there sure are in Japan ("Kitsune")
Well, what do you know? I've googled 'satyr' and they are, indeed, goaty. However, there is some confusion with horses. So, the pictures I've seen with long-flowing tails that suggested 'fox' to me were obviously admixed goats and horse. But I'm sure I've read that they were foxy - perhaps there is some other creature in European mythology that I've mistaken them for. *shrug*
Well, the original satyrs were just "humans with HORSE tails", in Greek mythology. It was the Romans who decided to make them like Faunus/Pan, with goat legs and tail. I'm curious, I'll have to look up "Fox" to see if there's a European equivalent of the "Kitsune."
