You wrote fic! You wrote Sherlock fic! You wrote genderswapped Sherlock fic with MAGIC!!! This is the best day.

I love the atmosphere in this, like the sort of children's book that stays lodged in your head for decades even if you forget the title, the sort you can reread as an adult and get even more from than you did as a child.

Even as a child (not to mention a magic-user and a girl), this is clearly the Watson we know. She's practical and not entirely lacking in common sense, but she's also drawn to danger. She's no genius, but she's bright and witty. Meanwhile, wee lonely Sherlock is hurting my heart.

I also very much enjoyed the humor in this story. I'm super excited to see more! (For the sake of my mental preparation, when you say that this is a WIP that may never be complete, do you mean that there is one complete story within an unfinished larger whole, or that the story will cut off in mid stride with little to no resolution, or what?)

Hooray! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. And I'm particularly glad to hear that Joanna's characterization works for you, seeing as she takes the brunt of the fic's multi-layered AUosity.

For the sake of your mental preparation, I'd say you should expect the end of the completed chapters to leave you in some minor suspense, but not abruptly so. There's some emotional resolution, but the overarching plot is still...you know. Arching. Basically, there's a fair chance that you'll want to throw things at me, but you probably won't hire a team of crack assassins to enact your revenge.

Probably.

Gah! Loved this - read it last night right before bed and then could barely sleep for all the images and worlds it opened up - can't wait for the rest of whatever you have to post of it. Gorgeous.

Thank you! That's exactly the sort of effect I was trying for. :)

Waaaaah, Joanna, you can leave the magic book and the magic mirror, but you will never quite live in the world as it is, and the magic won't ever quite leave you.

(This is gorgeous and heart-rending already.)

OMG this fic is wonderful! I can't wait to read the next chapter!!!

But why must Joanna leave behind the mirror and her grandmother's book?

And what does Jim and Sebastian want with Joanna? Why are they interested in her?

BTW you made me cry when her grandmother was dying from cancer =/.

Thank you for reading! I'm so glad you're enjoying it so far.

But why must Joanna leave behind the mirror and her grandmother's book?

Happily, this is explained (more or less) in the newest chapter!

And what does Jim and Sebastian want with Joanna? Why are they interested in her?

That...takes a bit more explaining. Hopefully we'll get there soon. :)
