here are some things.

1. Saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo yesterday at my local temple of celluloid worship cineplex. While I upsold the book like a pro at Borders (god rest its soul), I've never actually read past the first few chapters; I think that may be why I ended up enjoying the movie as much as I did. It was hardly perfect, and one scene in particular did ( Read more... )

I'm excited to hear about the writing!

And I now see Sherlock in, like, every show I watch. Massive conspiracy on "Castle"? Clearly Moriarty is behind it. Spencer breaking up with Toby to protect him from A's murderous compulsions on "Pretty Little Liars"? Clearly she and Sherlock have phone calls about hurting the ones they love for their own good, in which they both sob like teenager girls (even though only Spencer is a teenager girl).

So I think it's fitting that "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is also about Sherlock. Good to know.

MORIARTY IS BEHIND EVERYTHING.

(even though only Spencer is a teenager girl)

I don't know about that. I bet Sherlock could get a good sob going if someone gave him the chance.

Fingers crossed for next series. :)

Why did I say "teenager girl"? What kind of English is that? I blame Moriarty.

Moriarty stole the rules of grammar just to irritate Sherlock.

\o/!

1. That's exactly what I was thinking when I left the theater after watching the English version; while I enjoyed it, I couldn't help but wonder if I'd prefer the Swedish adaptation. Now I just have to get my greedy little hands on it. ;)

2. I am also having this problem. My desire for Sherlock fic since series 2 has quadrupled, but fandom output has only doubled. Or something. Whatever; point is: I NEED MORE FIC. Which might be why I'm writing so much. I'm just about finished with this latest chapter, and when I am I totally going to need Troop Beta. Watch the skies for the Beta Signal! (Or your inbox. Whichever.)

6. ZOMBIE HOODLUMS. *steals for potential future fic*

8. Thank you!

9. Grimm and I have a complicated relationship. Basically, I think it has an awesome premise and fun characters but hasn't yet taken the steps necessary to live up to that potential. I want involved mythology, I want arc episodes, I want a Scooby Gang with at least one female character who is no one's girlfriend. And I feel like the show wants to ( ... )

Most importantly!
6. You need to know that this picture exists: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b112/lalaithl/333076_315066428530004_133153073388008_816087_213617888_o.jpg
Courtesy of "I was born to be a Trekkie/Trekker" on Facebook. I'm sure the Doctor and Rose are responsible for this somehow.

1. They're all out on dvd, at least in Canada. I took a brief look around the internet, but the first site I found had dubbing instead of subtitles, and that's just bizarre. I'm sure that they are out there, though. You should be warned that in addition to the unfortunate things of the first movie you already know about, the last few minutes of the second movie are an utter write-off in terms of trauma. But things go uphill from there.

6. AHHHHHH MAHNA MAHNA! That made my morning.

1. I pretty sure they're available on DVD here, too; I will just have to manipulate the family netflix queue until it serves my dark, Swedish will. And thanks for the heads up on the traumatic bits!

9. I also really like Juliette so far, and I can't wait until she can be more involved in plot type things - though from recent episodes it looks like she's decided to head in that direction whether Nick likes it or not. She's pretty badass.

In terms of Portland accuracy, geographical and otherwise, Grimm is sort of amazing. Every once in a while they'll tell you the scene takes place in one neighborhood even though it's recognizably another, but very rarely. As for being faithful to its spirit, that's a little harder for me to say - my Portland is a little younger, a lot more unemployed, and involves many, many more hipsters. But I know people who live more like Nick and Juliette, and Monroe is a classic Portland personality. (Aside from the big bad wolf thing. Probably.)

I'm getting a semi-colon tattooed onto my flesh in the near future so...you're not alone on that obsession. Except, you know, I'm going for ink, so maybe I'm just a bit mad. Also 100 words a day from you is my new happy place, watch me flail in the corner.

And some things what you might like off my British telly: Misfits, Life On Mars, Being Human (UK!!!), The Mighty Boosh, Father Ted... Actually, actually, two completely amazing things that you should watch are Silk and Case Histories. Both are awesome, the second has Lucius Malfoy sloping around being a cynical detective who secretly has a good heart. SHERLOCK IS IN EVERYTHING.

SEMI-COLON TATTOO = TOTAL BADASS. You are going to be the meanest grammar motha on your street.

I'm caught up (and long in love) with Being Human (UK) and Life on Mars (UK), but I still need to get my hands on the third series of Misfits (soon to be UK). The others I have have never seen, but I WANT TO. I am a sucker for the actor who plays Lucius, though I can never remember his name. I just think of him as Lucius Malfoy/Captain Hook/Hot Photographer from West Wing/Best Part of The Patriot/All Those Other Things.

It'd probably just be easier to remember his name. ;)

After the semi-colon it's the quotation marks inside my elbows. As you can tell, I LIKE PUNCTUATION A LOT.

Series four of Being Human starts on Sunday, so there will be more to catch up on soon! Also catch up on Misfits before someone spoils you, because shit goes down, okay. The Mighty Boosh is glorious but strange, but then more glorious for it, and Father Ted is delightfully Irish and mid-90s. Silk is just completely brilliant, not least because the protagonist is a woman who kicks arse in a quiet, intelligent manner. Also because Rupert Penry-Jones is hot. And Case Histories is just...brilliant. I've read all of the books and they are amazing, and the series is very different to the books but in an equally awesome way. Also it has pilot!Sally and Martin Freeman's IRL lady Amanda, so even more reasons to get it on your eyes NOW. Also because Jason Isaacs is hot (there is a theme here).
