As humans, we are suppose to be better than that... guess not.

I haven’t talked about this earlier.

The day that stupid law passed, a creep beat up my cousin Pepe in Phoenix. Pepe is a spic, as that fucker called him and his 3 year old daughter. Hell, they look more mexican than a taco with salsa borracha. But they are Americans. Pepe was born in 78’ in Arizona. Yet he has 14 stitches in his forehead.

I am so horrified by this law. The town I live in, Boulder, Colorado, is extremely liberal - they've shut down all travel to Arizona for government employees from Boulder. They say its because this violates their views on human rights and puts people at risk who travel there. It's not much, but there are people taking a stand.

Oh, and if LJ isn't a place for spur-of-the-moment angry political rants, what IS it for? XD

I'm not quite sure what to say. I want to have an answer, something comforting I can tell you, but when up against blind hatred and stupidity, there's not much positive to be said ( ... )

I think that every society has the laws and the government it deserves... which leaves a lot to be desired of Mexico and USA. My people has moved away from Arizona to SoCal, but the damage is done.

Down here they are talking of boycotts and the works, but the truth is that this law came to be 'coz we provoked it by letting stupid people get the power they want. and that goes for both countries.

Hugs!

I'm so sorry to hear what happened to your cousin!

This law...don't even get me started. It's horrifying and I love how those who support the measure use specific language to make it sound acceptable and necessary rather than the bullshit bigotry it is.

This is your journal. You can rant to your heart's content.

Down here we are just appalled. Some states here are stooping all commercial trading with Arizona and the Universities are stopping exchange programs with universities there. I hope some day the color of the skin gets the importance it really has. None.

Hugs.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your cousin, March. This is despicable! And you can post rants at your journal any time you want. I just Google-ed Law SB1070 and I agree with you. Laws like these gives bigots excuses to hurt and mistreat their fellow man or woman. It's disgraceful. Believe me, I understand what it's like dealing with prejudice.

Thanks for your words hun and sorry it took me so long to reply. One day hun, one day sexual preference, religion, gender and skin color would have no importance 'coz everybody will be equal. You just wait and see.

Hugs.
