Finished reading the DaVinci Code yesterday.

Seriously? It isn't that good. It took me about 2 months to read! I see how it can be a fun movie, but it didn't keep me very engaged when I was reading it... it is a kind of 'National Treasure' or 'Sahara' kind of adventure. I'm curious about the film, but the book did not answer to all the hype, not ( Read more... )

I've read, and own, alot of similar books. They're currently in a box marked "crime"

(most of my other books are in a box called "fantasy/sci-fi".. so that would mean I've managed to free up some space in my bookshelf.. nope.. I've managed to fill it up again with new books.. It's an evil circle I tell ya!)

Anyways..before I loose the point of commenting all together; the "hype" around this book is because so many Christian people is against it.. And whenever that happens.. us not so very christian ppl simply *must* read it.. It's like your parents telling you not to do something..and then you just *have* to do it.. and it turns out, you sorta could have been without the experience all together..

To me, the da vinci code was a fun read.. a tad slow in parts.. and towards the end I was more than one chapter ahead of the main character, and I tell you.. thats annoying!

But all together.. not the worst suspense/crime you could waste your time on... :-)

xx

Hehe.

I was dissapointed... most of the kiddie crime I've read was more engaging than this book. Am curious about the movie though... can't see it be much deeper than National Treasure on screen...

Interesting post, roguem, and comment, beluga. I have the book and have planned to read it before the movie comes out. Do you both think I should just wait for the movie?

I agree that the book has gotten A LOT of hype. But I haven't encountered anyone who didn't like it.

Hmmmmm......you're a big help....LOL ;>D

I didn't read LOTR, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion until I'd seen FOTR. I absolutely loved all of them. The most recent book I read before seeing the movie was The Perfect Storm. It doesn't usually spoil a movie for me to read the book first. And it doesn't bother me to read spoilers either.

I have Empire of the Sun and love it. Liked The Outsiders, but don't have the DVD. The version you described sounds good. I'll have to get it.

... my comment is longer than Roguems entry in the first place.. so.. I'll just stop babbling now...

LOL....but I enjoyed it. Thanks a bunch. ;-))
