Finished reading the DaVinci Code yesterday.

Seriously? It isn't that good. It took me about 2 months to read! I see how it can be a fun movie, but it didn't keep me very engaged when I was reading it... it is a kind of 'National Treasure' or 'Sahara' kind of adventure. Interesting post, roguem, and comment, beluga. I have the book and have planned to read it before the movie comes out. Do you both think I should just wait for the movie?

I agree that the book has gotten A LOT of hype. But I haven't encountered anyone who didn't like it.

I didn't read LOTR, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion until I'd seen FOTR. I absolutely loved all of them. The most recent book I read before seeing the movie was The Perfect Storm. It doesn't usually spoil a movie for me to read the book first. And it doesn't bother me to read spoilers either.

I have Empire of the Sun and love it. Liked The Outsiders, but don't have the DVD. The version you described sounds good. I'll have to get it.
