► I felt a lot better when I woke up this morning. Actually, by 2:00am last night the nausea and sick feeling was gone. A few well timed belches and 3 runs to the toilet help relieve all of that. And I apologize for the mental image.
► Every month or so Deana goes through a cycle where she suddenly needs to be entertained and borrows all of my DVD season sets of
30 Rock,
The Big Bang Theory, and
The IT Crowd. The endless looping of the shows in the front room are killing my love for them. I need to get more sitcom DVD sets just so she can watch something, anything, else.
In between the above cycles she also frequently calls for me and says "Do you have any movies?* I'm in the mood for [movie genre], go pick me out some fun ones." I'm not her brother or her roommate. I'm her captive entertainment director.
* "No, only over a thousand." This exchange happens every time.
► After many moons, I've been chatting with my old net friend, artist
SatyQ. Last summer we had arranged anything deal where I gave him more scene and gag ideas for a long time project of his in exchange for sketches. At the time I had earned several (one for each idea used) but we lost touch. A few days ago he popped online again and it was decided he'd start working on my sketches in between his current projects. Since neither of us could remember if I was owed 5 or 6 sketches, he suggested we just make it 6.
Yesterday he drew the first sketch for me, of one of my original
Bush League superheroine characters, The Masked Centerfold. I realize it's a bit explicitly in your face, but the pose was my idea,
inspired by several sculptures by an American female artist on DeviantArt named
Dreamfloatingby. I thought the pose would be an interesting mix of grace, athleticism and sexuality and work with Centerfold's agility and super martial arts abilities.
The second sketch, drawn today, is of my main superheroine,
Utopia. This is actually
the second time SatyQ has sketched her for me. For this pic I wanted a classic flag waving
Superman style image. Since the 40s Superman has often been depicted with a bald eagle on his arm and holding an American flag. Since Utopia is my Canadian superhero, I wanted her holding a Canadian flag. I also wanted to have a distinctly Canadian bird perched on her arm that wasn't a
loon or a
Canadian goose.
Bald eagles are native to Canada and their habitat covers more than half of the country, but they're so symbolically identified with the US I barely considered suggesting one. In the end I decided that the
snowy owl would make a good choice, especially with them being representative of wisdom.
I'm trying to decide on who and what I want for the 3rd sketch. At the moment I'm torn between asking for a drawing of
Marvel superheroine
Medusa, or asking for another of
my Bush League superheroines. I'll be waffling back and forth over this all night.

Cary Elwes Joins Wonder Woman - Wait a second, wait a second:'The NBC pilot is described as a reinvention of the DC Comics superheroine (played by Adrianne Palicki), who’s recast as Diana Themyscira, a successful corporate executive who fights crime in Los Angeles as Wonder Woman while trying to balance the elements of her extraordinary life.'
'Elwes [snip] will play Henry Demeter [snip] CEO of Themyscira Industries who oversees the day-to-day operations while Wonder Woman fights crime.'
Are they making a
Wonder Woman TV show or are they just reinventing
Batman as a woman? Seriously, this is
Bruce Wayne and
Lucius Fox. Sounds more and more like this is going to be another case of an adaption in name only.
Those always work out great.
Love
Cary Elwes though.

21 Smoking Shots of Jessica Biel and
Jessica Biel's Hottest Bikini Pictures - Because
Jessica Biel turns 29 today, and I love her. Even if she has no idea I exist.

Underwater Sculpture by Jason deCaires Taylor - I was flipping channels earlier this week and stopped on
Steven & Chris in time to see them show some photos of the underwater sculptures. I thought the work was ethereal and beautiful, but only just remembered to look it up online.
Speaking of
Steven and
Chris, I still miss when they hosted
Designer Guys, which I used to watch with Mom. Yes, I occasionally watch home decor shows.

Allie: Strictly speaking, there's no such thing as invention, you know. It's only magnifying what already exists.
