This book is doing nothing to curb my urge to write fic about Val, after I wrote about her for ToH.

Tyrion chapters are repetitive boooo. But this is the first time I've found Jon super interesting, so fair trade.

I like how Jon keeps being like "She's not a princess really" and then GRRM does everything to make her seem as much of one as possible. Beauty, dignity, tower, etc.

Jon is kicking ass and taking names (and heads). I'm trying, really, really hard not to lose patience with Dany, because she is my girl and I want so much to believe in her. Tyrion has pushed me about too far with the whinging. Lots of people in this series have faced horrific betrayals, bro. Man up.

I know, right?! I mean, part of it's just that I find Brienne super-annoying, but part of it's that I'd rather that, if she's going to be part of his redemption story, it be through being bros rather than by the mystical powers of love. Seems more appropriate for both her and the series. But if she is not part of his redemption story and in fact gets him killed? I am even more done with her than I have been all along. Jaime's survival means way more to me than hers.

Heh, sorry that my comments aren't really expansive synopses. I'm literally just reacting "out loud".

Hehe - I promise there will be a full summary once I've finished.

Only read up to Prince of Winterfell in this post as that's where I just left off. Glad I wasn't imagining the missing of certain parts of Theon. Seems like he'd dwell on that more than missing fingers?? Though the constant "I'm not even a man" would be it I guess.

-(Jon 7) - Dolorous Edd = Eeyore. It is known.
lol, thanks for that.

Hehe, that has been my thought about Edd all along, but sometimes it's just even more clear than others. ;)

At last someone unimpressed with Victarion! I never liked him, and always thought he was a spineless bully. All this talk in comments elsewhere of Dany "falling" for him as a Drogo substitute really piss me off. I hope she burinates him!

And then takes his ships.

If Dany was going to fall for any of the Greyjoy bros, it'd be Euron, but since he can't bother himself to show up for her in person, that seems unlikely. I really don't want her in bed with the squids, though -- it gains her almost nothing and would most likely just cause a lot more problems. I know the Greyjoys have boats, which she still theoretically needs (assuming she makes it back to Meereen to reclaim her Unsullied army and then GTFO), but other than that, what can they offer her? No one in Westeros likes them. They have no allies and no legitimate claims to anything other than their islands. No benefit there. (Which is why it's a shame about Quentyn, because that would've been a great alliance, but the Martells are now out of viable men to offer her. Unless she's going to wait for Trystane to hit puberty).
