I signed up for yuletart! That took, like, an hour, and it's kinda scary, buuut I look forward to it! I still do not know whether there'll be a Bandom Secret Santa style exchange this year, but if there is I will sign up, and also

I totally squeed with Sally too! It is totally my dream to see The Beatles (you know, when they invent time machines ;)) so it's nice to vicariously (almost) live it on Mad Men.

Totally agree about LJ/DW vs. AO3. The first is just more personal and I'm more likely to comment there. But you need that archive too because either one of the other services could go down for many reasons.

The AO3 is super convenient for a lot of things -- and if I'm reading a fic at the AO3, then that's where I'll comment. But I'm still more likely, at this point at least, to read a fic on LJ, and therefore to comment there too, and more likely to develop a conversation there beyond the initial exchange.

Sally's scream was SO PRECIOUS :D I was so excited for her! I wish we could have seen that part of the episode. I have not seen the Beatles plural alas, but I have been to a Paul concert, and it is, even today, a GLORIOUS GLORIOUS thing.

Bandom Stuffs It!

I don't think I'll have time to sign up, because I don't want to overcommit myself and the holiday season is hell in my program, but that's a new exchange that just started this year :D

Thank you! :D And ahhh I know what you mean, and I will definitely freak out about it when deadlines approach. But! I have never done any fandom specific holiday exchange outside Yuletide, and I really want to. And no pressure but if you do end up signing up I will be happy :D NOT EVERY EXCHANGE FIC HAS TO BE A 40K SCIFI DYSTOPIA FIC YOU KNOW.

I just signed up for it too! *weeps* I haven't even gotten most of my assignments yet, and I already feel overwhelmed! GUESS I BETTER START WRITING DAMMIT.

Yay! :D Wait, does this mean you won't be doing yuletide, though? Because I saw you saying you don't want to sign up for anything else. But either way I love your art and cannot wait to see what you make!

Oh no, I'm definitely doing Yuletide; I've already got it on my list despite signups not having opened yet. :D (I haven't exactly figured out when I'll manage to fit that one in, but I'm not missing out!)

But everything I'm currently signed up for except Yuletart is fic-based, and art works a different part of my brain! I couldn't say no!

Exactly! It's not the same as writing fic!

Plus, I really like the fact that I'll have to hand in an early draft, which means that there's no way I'll procrastinate it to the last minute and have it infringe on my Yuletide time.

Comments: exactly! And I mean, the whole purpose of comms and tagging -- even just tagging your fic "fic" -- is, as far as I can tell at least, for other people to be able to find it and read it and idk, it's weird. Not to mention, you know, most of the fic I read isn't from my flist, or even from comms I watch -- most of it comes from random browsing, or from looking through people's recs, and from Delicious searches. If I were only to comment on fics written by people I know, I wouldn't be leaving comments on most of the stuff I read ( ... )

Re: The Good Wife

It took me a while to identify Jason Street, but yeah, that was some good casting.

I hate the deleted phone message trope too, but I'm annoyed by shows that can't move themselves along, and through contrived barriers in the way of their couple, but The Good Wife has so much awesome going for it. Alicia is never not amazing. I could watch Juliana Marguiles read the phone book, and as Alicia she is riveting.

She is. I somehow keep forgetting that when she's not onscreen in front of me, but then she'll come on and GOD I LOVE THAT WOMAN SO MUCH. The scene at the courthouse with the fifth amendment? <3333333333333
