My oldest son got his drivers license some weeks ago and bought his first car from his own money yesterday. Time goes by too freaking fast I tell you!!
£500. The rust is only held together by the dirt, there was a 50cm crack in the windscreen, the passenger seat doesn't stay in place and there's something wrong with the suspension. But it's got alloy wheels and a good radio, what more does a 18 year old boy want!
It sure is! He's been using our car for the past weeks but since we don't allow him to just randomly drive hundreds of km for the heck of it he decided to get his own car. He'll find out soon enough he won't be able to drive hundreds of km for the heck of it either because he just can't afford it but that's all part of the learning process ;)
If it makes you feel better, you certainly don't seem like a little old lady with a teenage son. You seem cool! Hip! With it! Way more than my parents were when my sister turned sixteen, bless them. (My dad's still confused on a daily basis by who Lady Gaga is. Oh, Daddy.)
Now the real question is, where's the first place Rodneyscat Jr. went? Was it the Arthurian library? Or does he take after his daddy more?
It's really weird to see all this proof that apparently I'm getting older! It doesn't feel like I do, I still love doing all my fandom stuff and going to rock festivals and such. The biggest difference for me is that 1) I now can afford to do all these things, 2) including the bed & breakfast to sleep when I go to Lowlands this summer, because no way I'm staying at camping-places that go with festivals anymore!
First thing RC Jr. went when he got his drivers license was pick up a couple of his friends and just drive. In our car, because he just bought his own yesterday, but can't pick it up until next Saturday. If he took after his dad he would leave the car at home and take his bike ;)

So in the UK 18 years also is the legal age for kids to be able to go for a drivers license?
