My oldest son got his drivers license some weeks ago and bought his first car from his own money yesterday. Time goes by too freaking fast I tell you!!

Mine bought his first car BEFORE he passed his driving test and WITHOUT telling us!!!!!

Did he at least buy something halfway decent?

£500. The rust is only held together by the dirt, there was a 50cm crack in the windscreen, the passenger seat doesn't stay in place and there's something wrong with the suspension. But it's got alloy wheels and a good radio, what more does a 18 year old boy want!

Oh wow, a car like that is allowed on the road at all? The significant importance of alloy wheels has been pointed out to me by my boys too yeah.

So in the UK 18 years also is the legal age for kids to be able to go for a drivers license?

I think they can get a licence at 17. He wasn't 18 till February but he passed his test in the November before. So he was driving in a junk heap at 17.

We weren't happy about it.
