After France we spent some time at home. Cuddling Gerrit our cat, doing laundry and catching up on (e)mail. According to one of those emails I had a ticket for the BFI Merlin Screening (which I'd expected) and through livejournal I found out who is going to be there (which I hadn't dared hope for omgomgomg!!!). Then I found the email in which jhavaRead more... )

Seeing this list I can hardly believe we've seen so much. It's quite an experience, and if there's ever a festival that you would enjoy, it would be this one, because it's relatively sophisticated ;)

It sounds just what I'd like. My problem, as always, is money.

One day, when the kids are older!

I don't recognize many of the names, except Devotchka and Arctic Monkeys. I'd like to see Devotchka sometime. Glad you had such fun!

Ah, Devotchka is just wonderful. I love it when music grabs me and leads me away. Arctic Monkeys would have worked too, if they'd been playing on a stage the same size that Devotchka was playing; they're not playing songs like Mardy Bum anymore.

Hee, I don't seem to be able to just make a 'liked it/didn't like it' list, right? Always feeling the need to expand on why and how :D

That's why it's always taking me so freaking long to make a post like this in the first place...

I saw a bunch of those same bands at Lollapalooza earlier in August. The Virgins were okay (I like their music) but I thought they'd be more peppy on stage. I saw Vampire Weekend a year ago and they were better this time. Kaiser Chiefs were great in concert. I love a lead singer with good stage presence.

Vampire Weekend was a first for me and it sounded like it was all still rather new for them, playing for a big audience; they came across as excited without being too nervous and the little slips here and there (especially the keyboard player couldn't quite keep up all the time) were picked up easily. They're growing nicely it seems.

It was my third time seeing the Kaiser Chiefs and they're always enthusiastic and manage to play songs they've already played a ton of times like it's all fresh and new to them. Ricky is an animal! I love him :D
