Silence on V-E Day

Yesterday I was helping mark the birthday of a close friend of mine (offline).

It was also the anniversary of the day that the Allied Forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, France. One major step towards the defeat of Nazi Germany.

And many who survived Victory in Europe were aware they would be sent to man the next invasion: Operations
