Car trouble

If anybody out there is car-savvy:

I'm trying to remove the valve cover, but even after removing all the bolts and pulling the plug wires and such out of the way, I can't break the seal. Any hints?

(It's obvious more ducktape is not needed.)

Seriously, there is probably an old, dry and sticky gasket holding it attached. Do you have a chilton's manual for your car? Does it show a gasket?

I got the gasket replaced without a manual to guide me. Now the damn car won't even crank! WTF?
