Just got through reading Eldest, the sequel to Eregon, and I enjoyed it immensly! Paolini's writing skill has greatly improved, and though he still has some rough edges and could stand to tone it down on the Tolkien references, the plot was wonderfully complex and engaging, as were the characters. Hmm... wasn't that the really, really young author?
The one who was what, 16 or so? Impressive! And very, very jealousy-inspiring. But your entry has definitely made me want to have a second look at the book. I hadn't read it out of pure spite that someone who was so young could go and do what I wanted for so long. Well, and his actual age put me off, too (if I don't confuse him with someone...) What you've got to say about Paolini sounds really good!

LOL! I know what you mean, Mothy. I enjoyed the first book but was super jealous that this kid had gone and just...did it! I hesitated on writing for so long because I wasn't sure if that's what I wanted to do, until my early thirties, that is. and this kid just popped up and said, "I'll write a book", and did it! ARRGGHH!!

But yes, I've enjoyed the books immensly, and if you like fantasy, you will too! :D
