Room 314; Monday Evening

May 10, 2010 19:14

Thanks to the power of scotch and denial, Chuck had made it through Mother's Day, even if he didn't manage to get up the guts to call his stepmother. The day had definitely had it's share of emo due to the holiday and due to the fact that it marked that there were only seven days left until Chuck got his inheritance. He knew that from the outside ( Read more... )

Chuck wished that he could chalk this up to Fandom, he really did. It wasn't though; this felt too natural to be something the island had created. This...this was just him finally losing it. Even in Fandom seeing your dead father sitting casually in your room with a smug look on his face was considered crazy.

He closed the door behind him after a moment and walked into the room, not saying anything to the figure sitting on his bed. Chuck went to the mini-fridge to fill a glass up with ice and didn't acknowledge his father at all. He was perfectly fine pretending he wasn't there. He had a lot of practice pretending he was okay.

Of course it wouldn't be that easy. "Drinking again? Don't you think you had your fill yesterday?"

Chuck winced when he heard his father's voice, but didn't answer him. He walked over to the dresser and grabbed the ever-present bottle of scotch and hoped the alcohol would make his father disappear.

"That's not going to make it go away," Bart said. "The only thing it does is put off the inevitable."

Raven had been in general avoiding Chuck -- just because -- but it wasn't in her to ignore the beacon of pain and emo that had been coming from his room. Besides, trying to help others distracted her from her own worries. Even though she knew it was most likely that Chuck would simply tell her to go away, she had to try.

She knocked gently on the door. "Chuck? Are you all right?"

[Like you didn't know that was coming. ;) ]

"Fuck," Chuck murmured. Almost anybody else and he'd pretend not to be in, but he knew Raven had those annoying little powers. He got up off the floor and threw a quick glance to the mirror to make sure he didn't look completely awful, and went to the door.

Chuck opened the door enough to be seen, but he made it obvious that he wasn't going to let her in. The floor was covered in glass and probably reeked of booze. "What?"

Raven winced, strengthening her shields. "You are in pain," she said. "What is wrong?" She peered beyond him and saw the glass. "What happened? Please let me help you."

"I don't need help," Chuck told her. "I broke something. I can handle a little clean up."
