On our way upstate, Marisa and I went to see Beck at the United Palace Theater up at 175th St. I read tons of complaints about the Wednesday and Thursday shows on the (granted, notoriously cranky, bitchy, and otherwise obnoxious) Brooklyn Vegan comment sections. Oh, and while I totally agree that songs in the "Celebrate" vein are awful, I suspect that our children's generation may eventually think the same thing of, say, "Hey Ya" or some such. I know that my heart has already started to turn on my teenage love for "Livin' on a Prayer," thanks to the doucheification of the song.
