Mother is having a fit. Apparently, the best way to make sure I'm not killed due to lack of supervision is to ship me off to France where I have less supervision.

I'm not complaining. It took me four hours to convince her Cardiff with my cousins one who may or may not be a Death Eater or just sympathetic to whatever bloody cause they have is more ( Read more... )

A few minutes later, Zacharias managed to shrug into his jacket. His hair was as perfect as it was going to get.

He strolled out into the hall, straightening out his shirt. He stepped into the living room and gave Daphne a once over and smirk.

"Gorgeous, as always."

Zacharias let his eyes drag over her. He couldn't help it. Besides, she was posing.

"Let me guess, you work for it, you might as well show it off, right?" There wasn't any judgment in his tone; he definitely understood that. Running and weights were his things, basically so he was better at Quidditch, but it transferred.

"Basically. Ran my first half marathon last winter," she told him proudly. There was a lightness in Daphne's tone now, definitely a sense of pride. There was a difference between having something and working for it. Daphne was fortunate to know both feelings.

"Never liked Quiddich much...but running has always come so naturally."

"Congratulations," Zacharias told her, sounding impressed. He wasn't much for marathons, but he remembered the first Quidditch match where he'd played the entire time. The accomplishment he understood.

"Running is... hard. I do it because it helps with Quidditch." He stopped for a second and tilted his head. "Actually, most things I do somehow connect to Quidditch. Huh."

This didn't surprise Daphne. There were so many students dedicated to Quiddich. Though, not many as talented as they wanted to be. It came with real effort.

"It pays off. I've seen you play." she told him, impressed herself.

Then they reached a deep red door and Daphne stopped. They had reached the club faster than she expected.

"Thanks," he shrugged like it was nothing. In actuality, Zacharias really enjoyed hearing it, but there was something to be said for accepting compliments with good grace.

"This it?" He motioned toward the door. He hadn't even seen inside it yet, but red doors were usually a good sign.

Daphne grinned over at him, nodding. She was anxious again to get inside.

"You ready?" she asked, her hand on the knob. She paused just to tease him.

"You're horrible," he told her in his best serious voice that completely failed at being serious.

Zacharias reached out to lay a hand over Daphne's and turn the knob.

"On with it before you build up too much suspense and it's a let down." Except that he very seriously doubted it would be anything close to that.

Daphne laughed, pulling the door open. At first it seemed quiet - an empty, dark building. But once they stepped inside the music engulfed them. Bodies appeared in skin tight leather or glitter that reflected the lights that were being bounced around the room.

"I hope this is what you had in mind," she said, a wicked grin on her pink lips. Of course, she knew, this was exactly what they were both looking for.

Looking around, Zacharias was fairly sure he fell a little bit in love. Skin tight clothing, glitter, bouncing lights, pounding music: it was just the right side of tacky for him.

He turned to Daphne, grin on his face. "You're my favorite. Remember that because I don't say it often. I'll even buy you a drink to show it." Either way, he needed about four shots and a to chat up the little blonde thing wearing the mini skirt and halter at the end of the bar.

Daphne couldn't help but smile back. This was the exactly what she needed. She needed the drink Riah promised.

"Let's take a few shots to warm up," she said, grabbing his arm to pull him towards the bar.

Zacharias laughed and let himself be tugged through the bar. He shouldered his way between a set of groups (one looked like a hen party) and motioned for the bartender.

"Pick your poison, Daphne."

Daphne didn't even think twice.

"Tequila!" she told him, excitement now in her voice. She leaned over the bar, letting her cleavage show proudly. The bar tender stared for a moment before hurrying for the shots.

"I'm bringing you out with me more often," he told her earnestly.

When the bartender dropped off their shots, Zacharias made sure to overtip. Daphne might be able to seduce bartenders into serving her, but Zacharias was fine with settling on paying them off.

He picked up his shotglass and tipped it toward her. "This is going to be a hot mess." And he meant it in the best possible way.

Daphne noticed that Riah wasnt shy about his money- though the flat also tipped her off. She liked that quality in her friends.

"I'm counting in it," she told him, saluting back. Then daphne tipped back her head and took her shot. It warmed her all over.

Throwing the shot back, Zacharias shook his head and took a breath. He was more into whiskey than tequila, but he wasn't picky enough to complain.

He snapped at the bartender and held up two fingers.

"Tell me you're a dancer. Don't break my heart and say you're above all that."
