I have been bothered recently with ignorant people. Its recently been in random places in random situations such as last night when I was studying at the SCC (trying to study) I couldn't help but to hear this conversation between this girl and a guy that was sitting at the other end of the table. it's people buying into stereotypes even though they know they're stereotypes, negative, and most of the time, not true.

i agree with you in that i don't really believe in races either, but racism still exists unfortunately in that you have people who still do classify people by the color of their skin and treat them a certain way because of that (usually in a negative manner), etc.

keep your chin up. one day things won't be like this anymore.

You live in college station where racism is still very much alive. I didn't know why there were so many aggy jokes untill my friend david started going there and telling me about most of the students that go there.

How many aggies does it take to change a light bulb?

None will because it's turned black, now they all just stand around and complain how lazy it's become for not working anymore and refusing to change itself.

one thing i've read in my soci classes is that black men are "hypermasculine"

since they can't "be men like white men" (i.e. breadwinner, etc) they have to make up for it by exaggerating their masculine traits.

so, though a black man may not be a "man" by the norm standards, in his black community, he's a "man" through other means.

i had other things to say, more intelligently, but i've forgotten them now..

but yeah. stupid people. sad to say, but we'll never escape them.
