Sharpe: Great to see Sharpe back and looking great, but generallyt he story suffered for not being based on a pre-written book[1]. I've been wondering about the Russians in Spooks thing too. But on the other hand, the Russians do make such good enemies in spy dramas! It's interesting, actually, that they are still the enemy considering that the Cold War was years ago. It seems perhaps Russia is coming more into focus again as a potential enemy of "the west". (Sorry if that came out as a typically ignorant and rather asinine political comment!)

No, I think you're right! I mean, if you look at James Bond films over the last thirty years or so, first you have all the Russians, and then you get other things like South America and China (though still some Russia, e.g. Goldeneye), and... er, actually I have no idea what the latest ones are about.

But yes. Since I'm so into the late 70s/early 80s Professionals at the moment, having Russia as the bad guys seems so natural, but you would think things had changed since the Cold War, wouldn't you? And, if it's true that relations with Russia are as bad as people seem to say, is there any sense in making widely available drama about it? Hmm...
