I'm now back, by the way. I'll write up my trip tomorrowish - it was great :) I wasn't well while I was away, unfortunately, and now feel somewhat worse, to the extent that I may need to go and see the doctor and everything, so I'm not sure when I'll be seen among the living again ;) For now, though, since I have hardly any webtime, I just have a ( Read more... )

My posts since Friday have consisted of: Me arriving in London exhausted and whining about all the things that are Wrong, and how much better Cambridge is, followed by me getting a good night's sleep and deciding the world is not so bad after all. East London is kind of funky. The downsides are the tossers who sit at the traffic lights underneath my room playing hip hop REALLY loudly, and the police cars who go past with all their sirens wailing every hour. Oh, and QMUL's complete lack of organisation.

From experience it isn't just QMUL. Most of the University of London seems to suffer.
I recommend an RPG 7 for the cars with loud music but I think you'd have problems with it being recoil-less.

Since Friday I have shouted at my supervisor to get my MSc sorted out once and for all, prodded 4 companies down your way for jobs and planned massive partyage for me turning twenty*mumble* next Friday. Oh, and the usual squee/fluff etc. :)

WRT camera, I dunno if the batteries are causing it, but rechargeable ones are so much better. (I assume you're using alkaline atm?) I have Uniross Ni-MH ones and although it's faffy to charge them for 14 hours they last forever and I always have a spare charged pair around. Look in Maplin or somewhere like that, I got mine for a bargainous £12 or so.

And get well soon! *uses appropriately silly cheering-up-Pippa icon*

*iconlove* :)

I've thought about getting rechargeable batteries but never got round to it - certainly I don't think it'd be worth it unless I had two sets. Ooh, that's something to think about, thanks :)

I'm afraid I've no idea what might be wrong with it. It doesn't seem likely that the batteries would have much to do with it. Also, a five year old camera is unlikely to be economic to repair...
