Worse yet, what if the pregnancy is a result of a rape by a close family friend or family member?

Last I checked, less then 1% of all abortions are due to rape or incest.

That's HUGE!

You may not think that that number makes a difference, but I'll tell you it makes a difference to the woman who was raped. How can we condemn even one woman to birth a baby she didn't want or participate in making?

Wasn't it Florida who basically sued for state custody over a 14 year old, demanding that while in their custody she could not receive an abortion.
