Here come the conservatives! (by Robyn)

Florida and several other states have a law that mandates that teenagers can not receive an abortion without parent permission. These laws grossly threaten teen health in my opinion. For instance they delay the procedure, making options that are less invasive less of an option as time passes(for instance the pill RU-486 is an method that requires no surgery or general anaesthesia and can cut the risks of general surgery but can only be used in a certain time window).

These laws also allow for a "Judicial Bypass" which supposedly allows teens to bypass having to ask their parents if the judge thinks it's a good idea. What if you live rurally and don't have access to a judge? What if you rely on family for transportation and can not see a judge? What if the young woman's family is abusive? Worse yet, what if the pregnancy is a result of a rape by a close family friend or family member? What if the family doesn't believe in abortion and the young woman does? Should the girl be forced to carry a child to term by her family when she is still a child herself? Besides, how is a judge the best authority on a medical issue?

This bill would cause unneccesary delay for women seeking abortions. Though most parents are open to talking to their children, it puts the health of some women in the hands of people who may not want the best for their children. Do me a favor and sign the same petition I signed (it's by Planned Parenthood). Don't let a few conservative billionaires with paid signatures tell us what we can do!
Stuff like this makes me sick! I'm not fighting for anyone to HAVE abortions I'm fighting for the right to choose whether or not we have children, regardless of age! If we lose the right to choose when NOT to have children we also lose the right to choose when we CAN have children. Go ponder that one conservatives!
