I've read the book - no. I said -the movie- majorly sucks. Better acted, yes. But no meaningful character growth beyond silly teens making puppy-dog eyes at each other, not one single resolution of any plot line, and in fact, no real plot here at all, and Harry mostly stands around watch others do the action. He's relegated to a passenger in this film.
I think she's suggesting it's not the movie's fault. I can't say for sure since I got completely fed up with teen whining in the first or second chapter and just gave up on the book.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I vividly remember being royally annoyed with Harry in a couple of the books, one being "Half-Blood Price." The boy simply doesn't know how to use his brain half the time. He's an authentic, normal teenager -- not my favorite type of hero, but I suppose it's believable
