Got back from Marcon yesterday. Wangled the iMac away from Alan just today. Finished unbankrupting the pants just now. You get the picture.

Fun. Lots & lots of fun, got to see many old friends: so many I'm hesitant to list them, as I'm Sure I will forget to mention someone. Despite that, here goes:

It was great seeing you this weekend! I feel like I spent half the weekend (or more) in a fog, either getting ready for or recovering from the Far Light concert, but it was sooooo worth it. :-)

Jen, btw, is finally on LJ as harperjen. Now if we could just get Sally on here, we'd have the whole band!

I don't think we would have overlapped on many panels, if at all. I always sign up for a lot of panels on the assumption that most will not make the final cut. Usually I sigh up for 8 panels and have 3 really make it to the final program. This year I got bit. 8 panels. No guilt over getting comped, none at all.

still catching up, so no marcon response. But have a question i KNOW you'll be able to help with - rat bites.

Just got a call here at work that my daughter was nipped by the pet rat at our sitter's house. Very shallow, more seeped than bled...but as it's on her eyelid, they don't want to put soap on it. Seemed to get a pretty good flushing via tears both before and after being wiped out with clear water, and is being iced (carefully) now for swelling. She said it barely stings.

Anything else that should be done? Other times i'd just keep an eye on for infection (but not expect much given shallow_and_well-washed) and call it good. Not dealt with rats much tho.

That all sounds about usual. I wouldn't expect anything else except a very small chance of infection -- is that the way that it worked out?

Sounds like the pet rat doesn't know its manners, which is usually the case with young animals even from the tamest of lineages.
